Aviva launches specialised professional indemnity insurance for media industry

Aviva has introduced a specialised media professional indemnity insurance designed to meet the specific needs of the  media industry, one of the UK’s fastest growing sectors.

A wide range of business enterprises, including advertising and marketing companies, print and electronic publishing,  photography companies, local media and broadcasters, now can benefit from commercial insurance specifically tailored to protect against the myriad risks faced by the media industry.

Aviva’s new business liability insurance for media companies provides specialised protection for  high-end recording, sound editing, and audiovisual broadcasting equipment in the case it ever breaks down or sustains damage. The product  also has provisions for the correct coverage in the event of business interruptions, since the loss of such complex equipment can be highly disruptive, especially amidst an important job.

The new coverage also includes highly important options, such essential liability and legal protection.  Aviva offers their insurance adapted to the needs of their clients by combining the office package offered to the self employed working in conjunction to their bespoke policy on media.  This combination provides recourse for larger-sized media businesses in regards to public and products liability, property damage, theft, business interruption, employers, and commercial legal protection.

Claims likely to arise from the media industry are events such as losing integral copy and images,  photography or recording equipment becoming accidentally damaged, theft of valuable equipment and property, and the cost incurred by by having to shoot  any material lost to an accident an additional time.

For companies that routinely deal with animation, video, film, and post-production, Aviva has introduced a range of specialised coverage such as producer, post-producer, and multimedia indemnity.

Keith Sully, commercial underwriting manager, Aviva, says: “We have put together our media cover to meet the many and varied requirements of this specialised industry.”
“The media industry relies heavily on technology, with the evolution of multimedia technologies changing the landscape in this sector beyond recognition over the last 20 years.
“As an industry particularly dependent on specialised equipment it is essential to have an insurance policy that meets those specific needs. However, it is also important to remember that many businesses will need additional areas of protection such as: business interruption, professional indemnity or even directors and officers cover.”
