Simply Business claims the new service is the first of its kind within the professional indemnity insurance market. Users will be able to track their claims progress at any time online. Moreover, the service will work to expedite settlements through an interface designed for customers to upload scans and photos of damaged goods and receipts in an effort to facilitate the claims process. The firm has expectations that it will manage approximately 3,000 claims over the next six months.
The broker states that the online portal will be able to provide claims information live. This will include loss adjuster visit details, settlement method, email and phone call tracking, and contact details for claims handlers and contractors. The customer has the option of setting their preferences in regards to either receiving text messages or emails whenever an update is made to their claim if they use the system.
Once the first claim submission is made, customers are furnished with a link to the portal through an email. Customer information is protected by a password the customer may choose him or herself.
Simply Business chief operating officer, Chris Slater, stated that the firm’s mission is to ensure that small businesses find it as easy as possible to manage their insurance needs. This is to give small business owners one less thing to have to worry about, he added.
Mr Slater stated that it has been technically possible to offer a live online claims tracking service to customers in personal insurance lines for quite some time. However he expressed pride in being the first broker to offer the service to its commercial insurance customers.
