Law firm and underwriting agency join forces

Professional indemnity insurance underwriters, Dual Corporate Risks, has recently announced its strategic partnership with law firm Kennedys in order to handle third-party business insurance claims.

The commercial insurance underwriters stated that the new arrangement will enable its claims management services to begin offering extra features.  It will also provide it with additional volume as well, Dual added.

The Kennedys partnership was launched at the beginning of the month.  Its aim was to provide claims management services for the complete life-cycle of a claim.

Kennedys will have responsibility for high-volume claims of lower value as part of the strategic partnership.  The firm will also resolve specialist and complex claims as well as negotiating high-volume claims through to settlement.  Dual has created and will operate an online claims management system for handling all the partnership’s claims.

Martin Turner, head of claims for Dual, has responsibility for managing the underwriter’s relationship with Kennedys.  Additionally, he will continue to have oversight upon service standards.

Dual’s executive chairman Russell Kilpatrick commented on the new partnership by stating it was an exciting step for the firm.  He remarked that it will provide additional expertise and scale to support Dual’s growth while also adding a ‘one-stop shop’ capability that includes claims support, a helpline, and legal advice as required by all the firm’s existing services.

Mr Kilpatrick additionally stated that the new partnership will underline the underwriter’s commitment to higher service levels for brokers and customers alike.  The ability to outsource more frequent and smaller claims to an experienced and high-quality firm such as Kennedys will be invaluable to Dual, he added.

Kennedys insurance division head Nick Williams stated that the law firm’s range of experience with insurance claims gives it the ability to contribute to the partnership in a unique manner.
