Allianz establishes new professional indemnity insurance underwriting team

One commercial insurance specialist has recently announced it will be establishing a new professional indemnity underwriting team in order to prepare for a new product launch to come later in April.

Allianz Commercial has recruited two underwriters to coordinate business liability insurance underwriting operations.  Regional PI underwriter Emma Thirkettle and assistant PI underwiter Chloe Crosby will be reporting directly to Steve Coates, head of property and casualty for Allianz.

Joining the firm from Chubb where she served as a PI development underwriter for the last three years, Ms Thirkettle will be the main point of contact for staff at the 14 different regional branches of Allianz Commercial.

Ms Crosby has specialised in professional indemnity for the past decade in both underwriting and broking roles.  She previously worked for Bannerman Rendell, a Lloyds broker, before transitioning to Allianz Commercial.

When asked to comment on the two new appointments, Mr Coates stated that Allianz Commercial has had a professional indemnity product in development for the past several months.  Both Ms Crosby and Ms Thirkettle will be providing their valuable underwriting expertise as the firm prepares to roll out the new product across Allianz Commercial’s entire branch network, he added.

The property and casualty head also stated that it is an exciting time to come aboard to Allianz’s commercial business endeavours as the firm continues to develop its casualty offerings.  The appointments of both Ms Thirkettle and Ms Crosby will aid to ensure the specialist insurer’s venture into the professional indemnity market is a sucessful one, Mr Coates commented.

Industry experts agree that a professional indemnity cover is key for many professional firms in order to protect them from costly legal fees in the event of a client making a claim against them for negligence.
