Two PI insurance solicitor firms have recently announced their new partner promotions for the 2011 year, resulting in a total of five new partners being promoted between the two of them.
Both business insurance specialist firms Dickinson Dees and Mills & Reeve made the announcements. Mills & Reeve promoted Mr Neil Howes and Mr David Gooding to partners in their professional liability insurance practice in both Leeds and Birmingham respectively, while Mr Stephen Hamilton joins the Cambridge corporate finance office as a new partner as well. Mr Howes will be heading up the local PI insurance team.
Dickinson Dees, located in Newcastle, announced its two new partners as well. The York office gained a new partner in waste and energy specialist Ms Claire Brook, while the Newcastle corporate team welcomes Mr Ben Butler as its newest partner. Ms Brook will head up the York office’s planning team.
With Mills & Reeve’s promotions going into effect in early June, the new appointments will bring the firm to a total number of 96 partners. The new Dickinson Dees promotions went into effect at the beginning of this month and brought their total number of partners to 65.
In comparison to 2010 figures, this year has seen an increase in the number of promotions for both firms. Last year Dickinson Dees made no new partners while Mills & Reeve only made up two.
John Marshall, senior partner for Dickinson Dees, stated that the firm is taking a more long-term view. Mr Marshall commented that the firm wished to ensure it had the right personnel coming through, adding that Dickinson Dees is ambitious in its desire to grow its business. The newly promoted people will be able to do so, stated the senior partner.
Mark Jeffries, senior partner for Mills & Reeve, stated that PI insurance litigation was growing the most rapidly for the firm, as revenue grew by 27 per cent last year and has already grown by 16 per cent in 2011.
