Commercial insurance provider Aspen Insurance has announced that Mr Ed Beckwith will be joining the company’s UK professional indemnity unit as its new head. Reporting to Aspen’s co-chief executive officers Mr John Cavoores and Mr Rupert Villers, Mr Beckwith will be based in the firm’s London offices starting from December.
Previously serving as senior vice president of professional liability insurance at Allied World Insurance, Mr Beckwith also served as a senior member of the management team for Allied World Europe. Before he joined Allied World, Mr Beckwith was part of the professional and financial risks team for Syndicate 02, where his concentration was in professional liability and crime for all lines. Starting his career as a broker in 1992, Mr Beckwith has worked at both Marsh/Sedgwick and Bain Hogg in the past.
Commenting on the new appointment, Mr Villers remarked that Mr Beckwith brings a wealth of professional indemnity experience. As the newly appointed man brings with him a strong, stalwart reputation as well as his experience, Mr Villers expressed his delight in welcoming Mr Beckwith to the Aspen team.
Adding that Aspen manages its business with clarity in regards to profit targets, Mr Villers also said that Mr Beckwith’s impressive profitable growth track record will dovetail nicely with his leadership ability. Mr Villers remarked that the newly appointed Mr Beckwith will mesh well with the professional indemnity team.
Also commenting on the announcement, Mr Cavoores went on record to say that the firm has been seeking out ways to build out its own professional indemnity capabilities in a selective manner.
