The UK division of one global commercial insurance provider has recently announced the it has added two new staff to the role of chief underwriting officers.
Travelers UK announced that Mr Ian Helmore is joining the firm’s business insurance division as chief underwriting officer. Meanwhile Travelers also stated that Mr Steven Pollock will also be serving as a chief underwriting officer for the professional indemnity insurance risks team.
Joining Travelers from his former home at Aon, Mr Helmore was operational, technical, and client director. In addition, the new arrival of Mr Pollock, formerly of Brit Insurance where he served as a portfolio manager for professional lines.
Travelers commented on the new appointments, stating that they were complementary towards those last year that saw both David Bourke and Nick Rnjak join Travelers as well. Both Mr Rnjak and Mr Bourke accepted appointments to chief underwriting officer for Travelers’ Ireland branch and of for an chief underwriting officer for Travelers, respectively.
Prior to their appointments, Mr Bourke served as Travelers Ireland’s deputy general manager, while Mr Rnjak ha been the previous head of the utilities and power business unit for Travelers Syndicate.
Following Sean Genden’s appointment to chief executive ofr Travelers Europe this past April , the creation of the chief underwriting officer roles for the for discrete parts of the Travelers empire in both Ireland and the UK is part and parcel to an initiative to commit to further strengthening excellence in underwriting.
Stating that Travelers has an excellent opportunity to build upon its capabilities in its competitive markets, Mr Genden said that the role of the chief underwriting officer is sure to play an integral part in Traveler’s building process as sell.
