Travelers Insurance has recently appointed David Sawyer, formerly of business insurance specialists QBE Insurance, to the position of assistant general manager. Mr Sawyer will be working within the professional indemnity portfolio of the insurance provider.
A former portfolio manager within the financial and professional line team within QBE, Mr Sawyer also oversaw the development of the professional indemnity offering for the national offices of QBE. Mr Sawyer was also a significant player for the merger between the syndicate and company professional indemnity teams for QBE as well.
With 18 years of insurance industry experience, Mr Sawyer has worked with such syndicates in the past as SVB and Kemper Europe. Travelers Insurance professional risks and special risks general manager, Jonathan Davies, commented on Mr Sawyer’s new appointment, saying that he wished to express his delight to welcome Mr Sawyer to the Travelers team.
Mr Davies went on to say that he had full confidence in Mr Sawyer’s ability to build upon the existing strategy of the Travelers professional indemnity portfolio while simultaneously working to strengthen relationships with the insurer’s distribution partners. The experience that Mr Sawyer has in the handling of major risks is a complement to the existing Travelers portfolio, added Mr Davies.
The Travelers general manager went on to say that Mr Sawyer’s broad professional indemnity sector knowledge will be a boon to the insurer, as it will provide invaluable assistance to the analysis of its product set’s broadening as Travelers continues to look for ways to strengthen its professional indemnity market position.
